The next version of Apple’s desktop operating system for its Macs taking the baton of MacO’s 15 Sequioa next year will apparently be MacOS Tahoe.
According to Mark Gurman’s newsletter for Bloomberg – a delicious that has already marked a apparent change in numbering, predicts this will be MacOS 26, not 16 – is Lake Tahoe apparently the next place that Apple will name his product after.
Stick a bunch of jokes that draw similarities between the next makos and the hulking chevrolet tahoe, and tongue-in-kind comments about how the operating system will be bloated and slow.
As always, this is still a rumor, so we shouldn’t be brought away with the idea – although Gurman is one of the more productive and reliable apple peppers, for sure.
Whatever the next incarnation of macos is actually called, when is it out and what can you expect from it?
Let’s dive into these details and touch a few of the rumored key features to look after in MacOS 16 or actually MacOS 26 – Tahoe – in front of Apple’s big revelations about the operating system on WWDC 25 soon.
MacOS 16: Release date
MacOS Tahoe is not officially revealed or talked about yet, but we expect to see it announced on WWDC 2025, which starts on June 9th.
A potential release date has not been sent either. However, Apple typically implements its new version of MacOS in September or October, so we can probably expect the updated desktop us to roll out to Macs around that time.
MacOS 16: Rumored new features

1. A whole new look
If you’ve got some bored with the appearance of macos that haven’t changed much as this decade has rolled on, here are some potentially good news – one of the biggest changes being joined for Tahoe is a renewed look.
Although not much has been provided in the way of details, the rumor that the interface is due to a major overhaul, from Mark Gurman. In theory, this is part of a plan to adapt the design language and appearance of Apple’s software across iOS, macOS and iPados (as well as other platforms).
So it will be even greater advantage for those with multiple Apple devices to have similar looking icons or menus (and more in addition).

2. Accessibility features in SPAR
Apple recently announced a fleet of new accessibility functionality across its various devices, including MACs, and some of these will definitely debut in MacOS Tahoe.
It includes personal voice that can capture the voice of someone who loses their ability to speak, and enlargement to Mac. The latter utilizes your iPhone (or a USB camera) to be able to zoom in, for example, a distant board and present the writing on the board to the user on their MAC’s screen-all-beating things for those who are vision-reduced.
Similarly, the accessibility reader can take pictures of book pages and display them on the Mac display, allowing for zoom or changing fonts or colors to make things clearer.

3rd Wi-Fi Timesaver
This is a feature that comes with iOS 19, according to Gurman, but logically, it should also apply to MacOS Tahoe (and other Apple platforms in addition) because it is about uniting public Wi-Fi logins across multiple Apple devices for convenience.
As it says when you’re in a hotel, gym or other place with public Wi-Fi, you may need to fill out a form before you can connect to the network and go online. To do this on multiple devices is even more pain, but with this new feature you only have to fill in the mentioned form once and all your other Apple devices automatically use these details.
So, for example, tackle the form on your MacBook and you will also be good at going on your iPhone and iPad – nice.
