Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that the macroeconomic conditions in the country because of the efforts of his economic team had improved significantly, but the government would have to work further to improve conditions at the microeconomic level so that the fruits of economic progress could reach humans. He spoke during a meeting with a delegation of prominent industrialists and business people in the country. He said the government was working on a priority basis for promoting industry and business. Business and industrialists were the backbone of the country’s economy and it was our highest priority to solve problems that they are facing. He said the government was striving to introduce business and investment-friendly policies. The Prime Minister said investors and business were given an easy and simple platform for special investment facility councils, where facilities were provided through a one window operation. He said a large part of the work was completed to digitize the Federal Board of Revenue, which added faceless adapted assessment system had promoted transparency. He said the government was trying to achieve goals of sustainable progress. Quick progress had been made in the last year with regard to foreign direct investments in the country, he added. The prime minister said the government focused on seeking foreign direct investments in the areas that could help improve exports. He said that during the visits of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, several agreements on investment in Pakistan were signed, which reflected foreign investors’ confidence in the national economy. He said the best way to increase economic growth was by improving the country’s exports. He sought proposals from business people and industrialists on sustainable economic growth in the country.
