Another Maine School District has taken the cases in her own hands in the state’s dispute over transient athletes in girls sports.

On Tuesday, the Board of Directors of the Main’s Region School Unit (RSU) voted No. 24 7-1 to resign from a policy that allows trans athletes to compete in girls sports.

The repealed policy, JB, stated that “students must be able to participate in accordance with the gender identity alleged in school.”

RSU # 24 Superintendent Michael Eastman confirmed to Pakinomist Digital that the district and its schools stop following the policy immediately.

“At his meeting last night, after respectful consideration, RSU voted No. 24 Board 7-1 (a director was absent) to resign from the JB-Truscan and gender-expanding students,” Eastman said. “This change takes place right away. We appreciate the turnout last night and thank the residents who approached the board with their thoughts on the policy.”

RSU # 24 runs five public schools in Sullivan, Maine. Hancock County, where Sullivan is located, voted for Donald Trump in the November election by a margin of 52.9% to 45.3%.

Eastman’s district is not the first to change a gender eligibility policy in recent weeks.

MSAD No. 70 School Board voted unanimously in mid -April to comply Title IX“Recognizes only two genders – biologically male and biological woman – and that all private spaces are separated by biological sex.”

MSAD # 70 Superintendent Tyler Putnam told Pakinomist Digital that because of this vote he is now referring to change the district’s policies to prevent trans athletes from competing in girls sports.

“The proposal instructs me to rewrite our policies to comply with the proposal,” Putnam said. “It is my interpretation that the school board seems to approve policies that also adjust biological sex to their specific athletic teams, ie biological men will only play with other biological men and the same for biological women. These policies must be approved by the policy committee and the board once they are rewritten.”

Maine is sued by the Ministry of Justice for not coming to an agreement to comply with Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order. Maine has solved the allowed trans athletes to compete with girls since 2005, when Maine Human Rights Act prohibited discrimination based on gender identity.

Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) updated her policies in 2024 to explicitly allow transking students to compete for teams that match their gender identity.

The state, especially its democratic leadership, led by head of government Janet Mills, doubles to threaten Trump and protect its trans athletes’ rights to compete against girls and share girls dressing room.

Many residents and now school districts have taken steps to oppose Mills. There have been several protests throughout the state, including two at the State Capitol in August, by activists who want to protect girls from trans -competitors.

Attention to the question was enlarged this past week after a Trans -Aatlet won several events at a girls -sperm meeting.

A transidentifying athlete competing for the North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine, at Poland-Nya-Yarmouth-Seacoast Meet, won 1600-meter with a time of 5: 57.27, where he jumped the second place ending with a time of 6: 16.32. In the 800-meter, the trans-athlete had a closer first place with a time of 2: 43.31, just about a second better than second place with a time of 2: 44.87.

In October 2023, Pakinomist reported Digital that this athlete was transgender.

ONE Examination of The coalition of the American parents found that out of approx. 600 registered Maine voters said 63% that school sports participation should be based on biological sex, and 66% agreed that it is “only fair to limit women’s sports to biological women.”

The survey also found that 60% of residents would support a ballot limiting participation in Women and Girls Sport to Biological Women. This included 64% of the independent and 66% of parents with children under the age of 18.
