Friday is the official deadline for Maine to comply with President Donald Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order or risk another reference to the Ministry of Justice.
Maine Principal’s Association (MPA) and Maine Department of Education have already been referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) by the US Ministry of Health and Human Services and faces a potential other referral from the US Education Department on Friday. The state has also seen a freezing in funding from the USDA to its continued non -compliance.
MPA and its president, Kim Liscomb, have come under local control in recent weeks so as not to change his policies for trans athlete admission in public schools, as a resident, Nick Blancard, has launched a petition to have Liscomb removed from his position as capital of the CONY Middle and High School.

MPA released a statement relating to this control and the association’s refusal to change its gender eligibility policy, which suggests it may change the policy if legislation is introduced.
“In the past year, Kim Liscomb, President of Maine Principals’ Association Board of Director, has faithfully performed his tasks that lead our organization. Statements by Pakinomist.
“In her role as MPA president, Kim has shown leadership, compassion and obligation to guide MPA with her extensive experience in education. When she finishes her one-year election period as president this summer, she will be missed.”
Maine -residents agree to keep trans athletes out of girls and women’s sports, polls showing
MPA previously treated its first reference to DOJ, with reference to Maine Human Rights ACT (MHRA), which was changed four years ago to add gender identity as a protected class, for its continued reluctance to ban trans athletes from girls’ sports.
“Maine Principals’ Association is bound by the law, including Maine Human Rights ACT (MHRA), which our participation policy reflects,” officials said. “We are unable to sign any decision -making agreement that would mandate, we create a new policy that would violate the law and MHRA.”
The gender identity change to MHRA stated that refusing a person an equal opportunity to participate in sports is discrimination of education. Maine Principals’ Association updated her policy to allow athletes to compete against the gender they identify as last year.
A University of New Hampshire Voting released last week showed that most Maine residents agree that transient athletes should not compete in girls and women’s sports.
The poll showed that 64% of the Maine residents believe that transnry athletes “certainly shouldn’t” or “probably not” participate in girls and women’s sports. Only 29% of the Maine residents felt that transking athletes “probably should” or “definitely” compete “against girls and women in sports.
The survey also showed that 56% of Maine Democrats Believe that transking athletes should be allowed to compete in girls and women’s sports.
When it came to adopting policies to combat the issue of transgender participation in sports, the vote showed that 50% of Maine residents would have it at the federal level, while 41% believe policy should be left to the states.
