“Year 2 of First Fairway Hugs & Watching You Live Your Dreams,” she wrote in the caption on Instagram along with a photo of the two that go on the golf course. “The second season in the books – eternally grateful to be on this walk with you, here are many many many more!

“I loooooove your sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud.”

The heartbreaking message emerged when her death was revealed on Instagram by a friend.

“Makena was one of a kind,” read the Friday post. “She had this rare way to make you feel special, and her enormous heart was always crowded by love. Being loved by Makena was a gift; one that came with infinite laughter, so much joy and a healthy sprinkling of chaos as we tried to keep up with her travel plan.”

Knapp broke his silence through his manager.

“It is an understatement to say how hard all this is to treat for everyone who knew MAK, especially her family and friends who deserve privacy and respect in this difficult time,” read a statement to Associated Press.

“Makena was such a thought -provoking person whose selflessness towards others is something I would always appreciate. We shared so many unforgettable memories together, and now that she is no longer with us, it is a tough reality to understand.
