Shedeur Sanders’ NFL draft position has been a topic of heavy debate, and New York Giants recipient Malik Nabers explained why he is angry with how far Colorado Buffaloes Quarterback slid down draft boards.

Seeing Sanders not only falling past day one, but also day two of the draft rubbed Nabers the wrong way, and the second year’s recipient told the podcast “19:00 in Brooklyn” why.

“You don’t do that with anyone like that,” Nabers told New York Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony and Kid Mero. “You can’t knock his talent.”

Nabers, the sixth overall choice of Giants in 2024, went ahead with his analysis of Sanders’ game.

“I heard a lot of things about him taking unnecessary sacks. He had a bad o-line. You know he threw for 70% [completion rate] with a bad o-line. Talk about his escaping his pocket. You can pull lots of clips from him that escapes out of three or four tackles and throws it down the field.

“Most of his recipients had seven to eight touchdowns. He played with Travis Hunter. He won Biletnikoff. There are just some things you can’t knock.”

Reports appeared during Sanders’ Slide, saying that the quarterback views, once believed to be a safe fire choice in the first round, had bad interviews with several teams, causing them to pass him.

His personality off the pitch and his various passions and ventures may have deterred teams.

“We need to stop getting feelings with how people play linger,” argued Nabers. “Yes, he may have some things that he might say on the camera, off the field. Whatever deals with it, it doesn’t have to do with how he plays football.

“Everyone has different personalities. You will never meet someone who has the same personality everywhere. We are all made different. So for them to judge him on just the things he says or how he carries himself. How he carries himself is about how his father bred him and we all know Deion, Bro. C’mon. We all know Deion.”

Elder Sanders, Hall of Fame, two-sports star, who has been coaching Shedeur since his first year in Jackson State, is also someone that people have pointed their fingers after seeing his son fall into the draft of the board.

“They just did it to show how they were bigger than what he would stand for,” Nabers added. “I understand it, but you don’t. Not such a child who has worked their entire lives and been told that Deion’s children will never be as good as him.”

Browns eventually pulled the trigger on Sanders, making him their fourth quarterback added to the depth card this season. Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, which many had lower in rankings than Sanders, was taken in the third round of the draft of Browns.
