The Rawal Pindi Traffic Police have filed a four against a businessman under the prevention of electronic crime law (PECA), 2016 for allegedly sent a “misleading video” in terms of removal of cars parked in violation of the rules, which raises concerns about abusing the country’s cyber crime law.

A FIR has been registered at Cantonment Police Station under PECA, 2016 on the complaint of a city traffic police Warden Imran Sikandar. According to Sikander, he and his staff encountered a video about Tiktok that was sent from a Rizwan singer.

The video showed a wrong parked car that was lifted outside Hussain cars on Kashmir Road in Garrison City. A proper Challan ticket was issued for the violation.

However, FIR claimed that the video was presented in a misleading way.

“The owner of Hussain Autos has allegedly created and circulated a misleading and malicious video to encourage public hatred and agitation against the police. Such actions are considered an offense under the Peca Act, 2016,” FIR said. Police have now begun an investigation.

In January, the government changed Peca 2016 in the middle of protest from journalism organizations.

Recently, a case was recorded against a citizen of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in accordance with the Cyber ​​Crime Act for having cast doubt on the integrity of the official moonlight. Previously, only FIA was authorized to register cases under PECA, 2016.
