A court in Rawalpindi sentenced a government driver to 37 years of string prison for scams citizens by mistakenly promising them government jobs in exchange for large sums of money, Express News expressed Friday.
The verdict was announced by the special judge Central Abdul Rehman Arif.
As soon as the verdict was handed down, the penalty was handcuffed and taken into custody from the courtroom.
According to the trial, the conviction, which worked as a driver for a government department, had blackmailed a total of RS4.66 million from an individual under the pretext of securing a state position.
The court found the evidence against him crucial.
Alongside the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of RS2 million on the criminal trial. In addition, he has been ordered to pay RS3.74 million to the deceived citizen as compensation.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-corruption wing had registered the case against the defendant last year.
