March madness: marylands derik queen hits the buzzer Beater vs Colorado State

Derik Queen is a king of March as Maryland Terrapins advances to Sweet 16 because of his Summer -Beater against Colorado State on Sunday night.

Down 71-70, Maryland had one last possession with just under four seconds to play when Queen took the incoming passport and immediately turned to her right to start coming to the net.

Colorado State had a big defense against him all the way as he drove left. And the queen was forced to take an off-balance shot that required a perfect touch from the glass to redirect to the hanger.

The touch was perfection and the ball went through the yarn, just as the buzzer sounded, giving us our first Summer-Beater in March Madness this year.

Maryland stormed the court as the crowd went into a madness, with queen at the center of it all in pure exaltation.

Queen finished the second round game with 17 points, six rebounds and an assist, but everyone will remember the one shot that sent them to Sweet 16.

Colorado State, a team that has fought back so many times during this season, had a solid seven-point lead at the break. And considering that they had to get back to Memphis in the second half in their first round of matchup, they knew how Maryland should get out of the dressing room with their hair on fire, knowing that their season was on the field.

But Rams couldn’t prevent Terps from getting back into the game, though they got through in the clutch when they needed it the most when Jalen Lake buried a three-pointer with six seconds left on the clock to take one-point lead.

Lake had 13 points that went 5-for-10 and 3-for-6 from three-point territory on the day.

However, Terps drew the perfect game and the queen had ice in her veins as it was time to take the shot to decide his team’s season.

Maryland moves on to No. 1-seeded Florida Gators, who defeated the back-to-back national champion Uconn Huskies in a thriller earlier on Sunday.

If you look more at the box’s score, Queen was the team’s leading goal scorer, though each member of the start five ended with double-digit points, including Rodney Rice with 16 and Julian Reese, the brother of WNBA star Angel Reese, with 15.
