During the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, Mark Hamill and his wife, Marilou, had to leave their home in the Big Rock quarter in Malibu, despite not wanting to.
When the tragedy had passed, the couple had been performing producers of Big Rock Burning, who tell the stories of residents who were “left to meet fires alone” in the middle of fires.
In an interview with People, The Star Wars’ Wife shared her thinking at the time, “I had planned to stay and I was really angry when we finally left that I wasn’t.”
Marilou, trained in fire safety, said, “After a few days, I think I thought, ‘Well, I’m a little glad I didn’t.’ Just because I wasn’t worried about dying.
To ward off their homes from being shrouded in fires, the pair lit their fire system spraying “three to 500 gallons per minute throughout the property” from their pool.
“Almost every home around us burned, but one,” she said. “And that home was probably saved by our fire system, how the wind blew the water on their house from our fire system.”
Mark, meanwhile, added that they couldn’t return to their homes because the downside is that it is toxic with chemicals. “
Big Rock Burning will be out on August 29th.
