Market prices on poultry, fruit, vegetables rise in front of Eid

At the forefront of Eidul Azha, the prices of perishable ingredients continued to rise in the second week in a row in Lahore, accompanied by widespread overrun.

Most seasonal vegetables, fruits and poultry articles recorded significant price increases compared to the previous week.

Despite official speed lists issued by the district administration, suppliers all over the city sold goods at arbitrary prices, largely uncontrolled.

The lack of a functioning price management mechanism along with little interest from elected representatives has led to growing public frustration.

Watermelon rose with RS5 to RS38 for RS40, but was sold to RS50 for RS80. Lokat got RS15 for RS138 for RS145 and was sold to RS180 for RS250.
