Marlins starter Ryan Weathers was drilled in the head by a throw down to the second base after throwing his last warm-up course between laps during a Miami Marlins-Tampa Bay Ray game on Saturday.
As is the usual between laps, the prisoner will throw the ball down to the second base to practice a potential stealing situation under the frame.
But Marlins -Catcher Nick Fortes’ throw to Second caught the Weathers right in the head, and Weathers quickly fell to the haug.

Miami has struggled so far this season with a 24-38 record despite an 11-10 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday.

They were just swept by Colorado Rockies, which has the worst record in MLB long (12-51 from Saturday).
Weathers have a 2.49 era over four starts (21⅔ laps that have been pitched), giving up only 15 hits over these starters and six earned races with 22 strikes and seven walks.
This is Weathers’ fifth MLB season after the beginning of his career with San Diego Padres. He struggled to start his career before being traded to Miami during the 2023 campaign.

Weathers unlocked something in Miami and threw himself to a 3.63 era in 16 starts in 2024. He appears to have picked up where he escaped before this scary incident in his latest excursion.
