- Thunderbolts* New Teaser confirms which of its heroes is actually a scary villain
The official trailer to Thunderbolts* Has been revealed-and it confirms which of its anti-heroes will actually be the main villain of the Marvel movie.
Published yesterday (February 9) during one of the Super Bowl Lix’s many ad breaks confirms the teaser my suspicion that Marvel Phase 5 will go out with a smell rather than a whining. In fact, the last movie of Multiverse Saga’s second phase is full of quotable one-liners, frenetic action and compelling melodrama, so you can bet I’m sitting in my nearest cinema on the launch day.
Look at
Interestingly enough the latest teaser to Thunderbolts* Trying not to hide who its primary villain will be. Until now, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Flick’s various trailers and TV spots had suggested that it would be Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine that will be played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus once again. However, this new batch of recordings makes it clear that she will not be the primary antagonist for this superhero movie.
Potentially large spoilers immediately follow for Thunderbolts* from this time. Return now if you don’t want to know about its crook!
Thunderbolts* villain explained: Bob Reynolds, Sentry and the void
The last Marvel -Phase 5 film’s second trailer reveals that Bob Reynolds, the MCU character, who will be played by Lewis Pullman, is actually a superpower creature. Not only that, but he also has more than a secret in himself-and one of them is of the potential world-ending variety.
Okay, so who is Bob really? As I said, he is an individual with superhuman abilities that is more commonly known as Sentry. In Marvel literature, Sentry is a superhero that, according to the cartoon Titan, possesses the power of a million exploding sunshine. Yeah it is he to strong. Think of him and Marvel Universe’s Take on Superman, and you get a much clearer idea of the kind of power we are talking about.
But as I also referred to, Reynolds is not an upright hero in the same spirit as Spider-Man or various other Marvel heroes. That’s because he also has an incredibly dangerous alter-ego called The Void, who shows up every time Bob/Sentry loses control.
In the comics, Bob essentially got an experimental serum (one developed in an attempt to recreate the super-violent serum that Steve Rogers got to become Captain America) who underwent him with superpowers. However, the drug also created Void, a demonic unit that causes a lack of destruction and death if it manages to fight control over Bob’s mind and his powers from his far more sensible persona.
To prevent the void from taking over his body and mind and to prevent it from destroying the world, Bob has got his memory wiped out at different points throughout the Marvel story. It’s the only way to keep Bob and Planet Earth sure – but on the weird occasion, when the void has been too powerful to stop, Bob has been forced to take his own life.
We already knew that Bob Reynolds/Sentry would appear in one of 2025’s most exciting new films. Last August, a leaked Thunderbolts* Teaser confirmed Sentry would be part of the role crew. This confirmation came a month before Thunderbolts* The first trailer was actually revealed. However, the film’s latest footage also reveals that the void will be the big bad of the film.
It is unclear who or what will make Bob’s dark side come out. The latest trailer suggests that it will happen when the titular anti -hero group meets Fontaine in the building, formerly known as Avengers Tower, which she now owns, which I expect to happen in the film’s second act. This feels like a good place for some big plot revelations to emerge, including one or more involving bob that annoys him and causes the void to emerge.
We also do not know if Sentry/The Void will be as extremely powerful as they are in the comics. I would be surprised if there is no MCU-based power scaling that makes him less formidable, so that Yelena Belova and company actually have a fight chance of defeating him. That said, the latest teaser proves that he wants a number of abilities available, including flight and the power to send people to Void’s Shadow-Y Realm, which we see happening on a few occasions in that trailer.
Thunderbolts* Arriving in theaters on May 2nd. It’s the second of three MCU movies released this year, with Captain America: Brave New World up first on February 14 before The Fantastic Four: First Steps Rounding things out on July 25.
