Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of Pakistan’s first artificial intelligence university (AI) in Lahore, stating that the initiative is set to transform future education in the country.
In the fourth edition of Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Turkey, Maryam Nawaz emphasized the global need for a renewed commitment to girls’ education.
She said that the AI-focused educational initiatives in Punjab represent a significant step forward in reshaping traditional learning models to meet the requirements of the 21st century.
“Promoting AI-Based Education changes the learning landscape. With the creation of Pakistan’s first AI-University of Lahore, we prepare our youth for a smarter, technology-driven future,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan and appreciated the Maarif Foundation’s efforts to organize the forum at a critical global time. She emphasized that Pakistan and Turkey, though two nations, share a unified spirit and vision, with her a message of solidarity and love from Punjab’s people.
Since he assumed the office in March 2024, the minister said she has been working on building on the strong foundations laid by former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.
“We began a new era with development with a renewed spirit – focusing on economic progress, education and health infrastructure,” she noted.

Over 4,000 primary schools upgraded
Launching digital learning spaces of 6,000 schools using touch screens instead of traditional boards
Reopening of previously closed schools
Introduction of 50,000 Merit -based scholarships for talented students
Daily dairy program in schools to combat malnutrition
Recruitment of 30,000 new teachers on profit
Professional Development Programs for Teachers In Line With Modern Educational Needs
Launch of AI-based learning platforms for students
Maryam Nawaz also introduced the concept of “Nawaz Sharif Internet City” and called it the new face in Digital Pakistan.
“Education is not just about curriculum – it is a healing force, a means of eliminating deprivation and building a better world,” she said.
At his address, the Minister of Chief also attracted global attention to humanitarian crises, especially affecting children in conflict zones.
“Palestinian children are buried under rubble. In Afghanistan, girls are refused.
Maryam Nawaz concluded her speech with a passionate call for inclusive, just and future -ready education, confirming her government’s obligation to bring every child, especially in rural areas, into the folds of modern learning.
