Masters 2025: Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau close to Justin Rose

We are in one of the biggest finishes in Augusta.

The Leaderboard is stacked with golfers who have a combined 10 major championships all within three shots of each other at the top, and the players on straight pairs (eight shots left) or better have a combined 24 major wins.

Thirty -four players made the clip on Friday and the game has been excellent. The cut line was only 10 strokes at the back of the lead. It’s a long shot for these guys, but they’re not out of it.

After double-boating two of its last four holes on Thursday, McIlroy came ready to beat. He mastered Amen Corner and the whole course for that matter. He shot a 6-under 66 and opened his back nine with four consecutive triangles, including an eagle of 13, and went bogey-free in the round. He is now sitting on 6-under for the tournament.

Dechambeau came out of shooting early and birds three of his first five holes and four of his first eight, who came to the second at one point. He cooled on the back nine, but even shot pairs to finish 4-under during the day and sit at 7 under two rounds.

Justin rose twice 9-under to the tournament after Birdies on par-3 12 and 16. But he posted 17 and just got a stroke in his second round. He has a one-shot lead.

However, when these three golfers were done, the reigning champion Scottie Scheffler was through only seven holes and no one is ever in safety when he is on the field. But he had an inconsistent day and set six birdies and five bogeys. Generally, it added up to 1-under on the day and he is three behind Rose.

However, Dechambeau was not the only life -star who had shot a low number. Tyrrell Hatton was right in the thick. Hatton Birdied 7, 8 and 9 to get in the mixture, and at one point he was tied to the other. But he had back-to-back bogeys aged 16 and 17 and was instead tied with Scheffler, Shane Lowry and Matt McCarty in fifth place at three left.

Corey Conners held his own on day two and shoots 2-under during the day. He is tied with McIlroy in the third, two strokes behind the leader.

Big masters of 1-under or even include Bubba Watson, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark.
