Masters News: Tiger Woods’ reason for absence at Champions Dinner revealed

While it was known that Tiger Woods would not participate in this year’s Masters Tournament, the annual Masters Champions dinner on Tuesday night could have been in the cards for the five-time winner.

However, Woods was not among the 35 chairs reserved for former masters of the famous major, not among them.

Golfweek learned from 1971 Masters Victor Charles Coody that Woods suffering an Achilles tower is still unable to go properly, and thus his absence from dinner.

“We put our jackets away, and the guys said Tiger still can’t emphasize his foot,” COODY said. “They said his weight tolerance just isn’t there to climb these stairs.”

Woods jumped his Achilles in his left foot last month and made him outdated in at least the 2025 campaign when he endorses extensive rehabilitation.

Woods announced the damage last month and said he felt a “sharp pain in my left Achilles” while trying to train and practice at home to get back on the field. He underwent an operation shortly thereafter and said he expects a full recovery.

“I’m home now and plan to focus on my improvement and rehabilitation, thanks for all support,” he added.

Woods had played in TGL, a golf simulator league founded by himself and Rory McIlroy. Woods collaborated with Tom Kim, Max Homa and Kevin Kisner for this venture.

While Woods has not been on the field recently, he has made news from it, specifically after confirming his relationship with Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this point we will appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.” Wooded Woods in his social media post with Vanessa.

Woods also makes some news this Masters week, though he’s not there.

It was announced that he will design a nine-hole, par-3 course at Augusta Municipal Golf Course, more commonly known as Patch, named after the vegetable gardens who were once near the property for Augusta National Golf Club.

The renovation of the course is funded by Augusta National as well as Woods’ Foundation, which builds an educational center for local public students. The par-3 course will be known as Loop, who honor Augusta National Caddies, who would gather there to play in their spare time.

“It’s an important day for all of us at the TGR Foundation to be able to have this moment, be able to do this with Augusta,” Woods said in pre -raised comments Monday, “and to do something in a place that has meant so much to me in my lifetime.”
