Mavericks allegedly did not like Luka Doncic’s ‘Taste for Beer and Hookah’

Luka Doncic got some revenge against his old Dalla Mavericks team, the team that shockingly traded him before the NBA deadline by chopping a triple-double in Los Angeles Lakers’ 107-99 victory on Tuesday night.

While Doncic dissected his former teammates on the field, Lakers -Fans were heard song: “Thanks, Nico!” to Maverick’s GM Nico Harrison who orchestrated the Blockbuster trade.

Mavericks still hold on to trade with the perennial All-Star Guard, and the athletic recent report escalated only the health concerns that played an important factor in moving him now.

The report stated that “the people who witnessed Doncic’s last days in Dallas did not paint a flattering portrait of the 25-year-old professionalism.” Doncic’s conditioning level was reportedly a frustration for the organization and they didn’t like his “taste for beer and hookah.”

Mavericks allegedly predicted Doncic’s “basketball death” because of his health, and Harrison made a step that no one came. Lakers star center Anthony Davis was the highlight of Los Angeles’ trade package to land Doncic.

Luka Doncic’s Triple double leads Lakers past Mavs 107-99 in revenge play after trade

This report may have made more clarity to a viral clip that went down after Mavericks won the Western Conference Finals this last season when Doncic’s beer was taken out of his hand by Maverick’s VP Michael Finley apparently without an explanation.

In the clip, Doncic seems confused that happened and eventually it pulls out.

Doncic’s father, Sasa, stood next to his son when this interaction went down and he blasted Mavericks after the trade and the initial reports that Luke’s health was playing a factor in it.

Sasa called the situation “very unfair” while performing with Arena Sport Slovenija.

“It wasn’t even a problem last year since I’m saying again, a person said he’s not in shape enough,” SASA explained about the conditioning problems. “That he played, I don’t know, 100 games, practically 40 minutes with two or three players constantly on him. That he was beaten and you say such things about him. I feel that this is very unfair from certain people. You acted him. Stand by your actions but not look for excuses or alibis. It is.”

Doncic has breastfed a calf strain for most of the season 2024-25 with Mavericks, but since he returned to the floor for Lakers, the team is 4-2.

At 35-21, Laker’s fourth is in the western conference.
