Max Homa is among several big names that do not meet the exceptions for the 2025 US Open in Oakmont, leaving his Oakmost fate up to a qualification in Ohio Monday.

Baptized “Golf’s Longest Day” Homa was one of several golfers including Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young, Bud Cauley, Jake Knapp, Padraig Harrington and Adam Hadwin tried to qualify for Oakmont in 10 different locations across the country.

Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club was home to six of the qualifying places and the golfer were in two rounds on Monday. But on his 36th hole put a three-put homa in a five-man endgame along with Fowler, Young, Eric Cole and Chase Johnson. Young grabbed the last place with a birdie on hole 38.

But Homa was at his lonely all day when he and his caddy of two months, Bill Harke, are no longer together, according to a person who was informed of the split who said only that Hare “lost his job.”

Thus Homa carried his own bag for all 38 holes.

“I’d much rather talk about the golf instead of all questions about Caddy,” Homa said. “I’m good. Just headed it 36.”

But apparently he didn’t mind it.

“It seems to be better than when someone is standing next to me for some reason,” he said. “I may have to go more myself.

As for golf?

“It’s likely to be heartbreaking, but it’s okay,” Homa said. “I haven’t worn my bag 36 holes in a while, so I’m a little tired.”

Homa is not quite out of the US Open. He plays the Canadian Open this week, though he probably had to win to get into the top 60 and qualify.

Masters became Homa’s first clip since last year’s open championship and he ended T12 at Augusta. But since then he has finished 70., T30, T60 and T51. Last year he was ranked 10. In the world.

In something ironically, Fowler qualified for this year’s Open Championship with a top-10 finish at Memorial on Sunday.
