Armstrong’s latest dark comedy follows a group of Musk/Bezos/Zuckerberg types when they meet at one of their number’s secluded mountain ruins, while the world faces Ai-driven unrest, which they may have played a non-important part of creation.
Jason Schwartzman skips his head over Wes Anderson Parapet to play Hugo, the owner of the hut who wants to impress his billionaire mates. Steve Carell, meanwhile, portrays Randall, the older statesman for the group and an early tech mogul that has rocked it in since before the rest of the group was born.
Cory Michael Smith’s Venis is the richest of the flock and owner of the social media platform in the center of the storm of Disinformation that gave up the globe, while Ramy Youssefs Jeff is an AI pioneer on outs with some of the gang.
After four seasons of the critically acclaimed Succession Expectations were high for Armstrong and HBO’s next collaboration, and Francesca Orsi, EVP for programming on the network is convinced that their continued partnership will deliver and say: “We are in ecstasy to be back in business with the unique talent Jesse Armstrong […]’Jesse again raises the bar with a bold study of modern greed, power and male ambition. That this feature acts as his director’s debut will only raise what is already exciting on the page, and we couldn’t be more happy to share this timely film with the world. “
