Under the plan, 552,000 livestock required for meat export, investment of $140 million will be needed
ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has set a target to export $520 million worth of halal meat to Malaysia over the next five years.
According to officials, the government has declared halal meat as a priority sector to boost exports and has drawn up a plan to export 130,000 tonnes of meat to Malaysia during this period, generating $520 million in foreign exchange.
Under the plan, 552,000 livestock will be required for meat exports, while $140 million will be invested in the livestock sector over five years. Of this amount, $80 million will come from the private sector and $60 million from the government.
