Meghan Markle may have made progress with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, for the first time in seven years, amid his health scare, uncertainty remains over what’s next for the father-daughter duo.
The Duchess of Sussex was finally able to contact her father with a handwritten letter sent to him in hospital to protect the privacy of their correspondence. With it still being the holiday season, some have speculated about the possibility that Meghan will finally meet her father.
According to sources cited by The Timesa reunion is “too early to tell”. It is understood that Meghan and her father still have unresolved issues and Thomas’ health crisis alone could garner sympathy but not a wider reconciliation.

The 81-year-old was rushed to hospital in Cebu, Philippines, for an emergency which led to life-saving surgery. Thomas was amputated from the knee down due to a life-threatening blood clot.
The former Suits the actress had struggled to reach her father for a number of days and claimed that the constant presence of it DailyMail reporter made it “extremely difficult”.
The Times reported that Meghan’s choice to send a letter rather than call him on the phone stemmed from fears it might be leaked. The letter is more likely to be protected by UK privacy rules.
