- Meta Connect comes on 17 and 18th September
- The first lamacon ever comes on April 29, 2025
- Meta teases large AI and XR messages for these events
Meta has announced the dates of its next two events: Lamacon and Meta Connect; Thus, it has potentially told us exactly when we see its next general AI glasses, and maybe a sneak peek at what XR Tech it has up to the sleeve.
From Lamacon, when it first comes up-April 29, 2025-Siger Meta, that it will share updates on its open source AI collection Llama. This developer conference will apparently focus more on back-end tools rather than consumer-facing products. However, these tools could be used to create some impressive AI software on the line.
Then there is Meta Connect 2025, which is scheduled for September 17 and 18. It’s almost seven months away, which is much more notice than we are used to for tech events – look at Apple, giving us about a week’s notice for its February 19 event (where the announced iPhone 16E). Connect, as always, will contain VR, MRI and AI-Hardware notifications-such as Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses-ENT as products, we get our hands on soon or technical that will come down the line but still is at the stage of development.
Meta remains close to details for both events, but says it will be back with updates in the coming months. I’m pretty sure we already have a good idea of what Meta Connect 2025 will have in store for us based on leaks.
Meta specifically made sure to call AI glasses in its message, and we expect Meta Connect 2025 to be where it will launch at least two new products. The first is Oakley versions of its existing Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses; They change the camera from the edge to the nose bridge in the middle, and they will reportedly be aimed at athletes and cyclists-which may include some AI-driven fitness tools.
The second launch could be the next Gen Ray-Ban Specifications with a display. This screen on the line could let a carrier see phone messages, a preview of images they catch, and other useful info, so Ray-Ban Smart Specs can communicate with you visually rather than just relying on audio or your phone screen.
At the end of the AI glasses in front, I predict the arrival of Meta’s ‘Smartwatch’, which is probably just a simple band that allows your specifications to pick up hand movement controls -which we have seen a version of the Meta Orion AR glasses. We have heard rumors Meta is working on such a band and have tried to decide if it should launch it with the next re-beam ban. I am leaning against the band that falls later in the year, but I would not be shocked if it is held back until Meta’s real scars specifications.
AR -glasses are not likely – based on leaks, consumer versions of Orion are not expected until 2027 – but I think we have a shot at seeing at least two XR devices.
The first is from Asus in a VR -headset code name ‘Tarius’. Although not meta-made, it will boast of Meta Horizon OS software-meta’s operating system, which currently operates only quest devices. Meta has said Asus is working on a Horizon OS-Unit, Leaks have begun to appear this year for it (hint that a launch could approach Horizon updates ”-It’s not much bigger than the platform’s first third-party VR headset ever .
Finally, I think Meta’s ‘One One Thing’ on Connect 2025 will be Meta Quest Pro 2. But like the original pro, I think we only get a teaser of a device we don’t see properly before Meta Connect 2026 while Quest Pro ultimately was a floppy and rumors have suggested that its successor has become canned twice (or specifically attempts are in the works as a showcase with advanced Mixed reality glasses. takes place at the beginning of the first day, then September 17, 2025).
No matter what messages Meta does, we will be here and ready to cover them.
