Meta Quest 4 has allegedly been delayed until 2027
An advanced meta-headset (puffin) should now come next year instead
There is no update about Asus or Lenovo’s Horizon OS -Headsets
A new leak suggests that Metas Quest 4 -headset has been pushed back from next year to 2027 – even if it arrives, it could be worth waiting for, as it can be a very different device than Quest 3.
Fortunately, we can still look forward to a Meta Quest Pro 2 launch -so new VR -hardware still seems to be in -depth.
These leaks come via two sources: Brad Lynch and Luna, both of which have solid track records when it comes to VR leaks. Lynch published a jokey vote in which only one of Valve Deckard and Meta Quest 4 would land this year, while Luna reported having heard rumors that Quest 4 has been delayed until 2027.
According to the delicious, this is due to the cancellation of two meta -prototypes that were probably Quest 4 candidates: Pismo Low and Pismo High (Budget and Premium models to match Quest 3S and Quest 3 releases).

Instead, we could get a headset based on the puff prototype meta has evolved.
Puffin is set to be a more advanced offering something that looks like a Meta Quest Pro 2, although that way delicious on the device it sounds like it might be launched under another, non-cool name.
It is because it is ready to have a very different design for what we are used to, ie. A pair of VR protection glasses tied to a puck, like Apple Vision Pro. I say ‘kind of’ because puffin puck not only wanted to be a battery but also its treatment horns, to further shift weight away from the headset and into the user’s pocket.
It still has to run Horizon us, but the device’s focus would be more for productivity and static entertainment (eg watching movies in VR) rather than what we typically expect from Meta’s VR headset.

Outside of Meta, we are still waiting to see what its Horizon us partners – Asus, Lenovo and Xbox – develop. Just as multiple device manufacturers are set to use Android XR, this trio is working on the headset running Meta’s Quest operating system.
We haven’t heard anything about Lenovo’s unit yet, although Asus’s Rumor Tarius headset will allegedly be part of its ROG range, suggesting it will be a game-focused headset with improved screens and features like eye tracking to make it a more Premium offer than the existing search models.
Hopefully, these headsets will be launched soon and a debut from 2026 could be on the cards – and if Meta is not launching a Quest 4 next year, it could be a first -class time for Lenovo and Asus to show their devices.
