New York Mets’ third Baseman Brett Baty gave up his No. 22 to Juan Soto, and his new teammate rewarded him nicely for it.
Soto, fresh from the signing of the biggest contract in the story of professional sports, bought Baty a car as a sign of gratitude for giving up No. 22 on Thursday.
“I really appreciate the number. This is the first thing I ever have on. I would give you something good,” Soto said.

“Well, this is definitely nice,” Baty replied.
Soto gave him an SUV and left a bow on the cap for his gift to Baty. The outfielder connected No. 22 in Mets colors during the exchange.
“Bro, this is crazy,” Baty said after entering the driver’s seat for the first time.
Soto signed a record-breaking 15-year-old, $ 765 million contract with Mets this season. If Soto chooses after the fifth year of its contract, Mets can cancel it by earning the total value of the contract $ 805 million.

Soto has carried No. 22 his entire career with Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees.
Soto is a big addition to a METS team that surprised NLC’s last season before falling to Los Angeles Dodgers.
Mets retained the first Baseman Pete Alonso in free agency, giving Soto some important protection in the set -up.
Unfortunately for Baty, Alonso, who is signed, can hurt his chances of doing the opening day list.
If Alonso traveled, third Baseman Mark Vientos could have taken over at the first base, leaving the third base open to Baty.

With the return of Alonso, Viento’s pencil is on the third base after a strong second half and playoffs as he drew 27 home runs in 111 regular seasonal matches last season.
Baty played in 50 games last season and fought and hit .229 with four home runs.
Whether Baty makes the opening day list, he will at least go out of spring training with a brand new car.
