The New York Mets Pitcher Nolan McLean has been a bright spot on the team’s resurgence in the last few weeks and created history on Wednesday night against Philadelphia Phillies.

McLean lasted for eight laps and knocked out six in the 6-0 win over Phillies, who went in New York in four matches from the National League East Division Lead. With the pearl for an excursion, he achieved something, neither Tom Seaver, Dwight Good, Jacob Degrom or anyone else in the blue and orange had ever done – won his first three MLB starter.

“He’s a stud, man,” said Mets -Infielder Mark Vientos after the game. “It’s so fun to be part of what he does on the daily basis.”

He started the first game of his MLB career on August 16 against the Seattle Mariners. He beat eight and allowed only two hits in Mets’ 3-1 victory. Last week he went for seven laps against Atlanta Braves, allowing two races on four hits in Mets ’12 -7 victory.

The start against Philadelphia on Wednesday was just as impressive considering the reinforced pressure that the organization has on itself that enters the last month of the season.

“All I can say is wow,” said Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza. “It’s just everything about the baby – not just what we see on the haug, just as he carries himself. He has electrical things, but he has pitchability. He knows what he’s doing on Haugen. He knows how to manipulate baseball. He knows what men try to do. He’s not afraid to use all his bricks.”

Mets have gone 8-3 since McLean won his first start. McLean lowered his era to 0.89 – the lowest in the team history of a rookie in his first three starts. Seaver held the brand earlier with a 1.19 era over its first three starts in 1967.

“I’ve always been a believer in my stuff. I’m a confident guy,” McLean said. “Obviously, the meetings here are the best in the world and I know. But I also know I have good things. And if I go out there and execute, I can also get a lot of guys out.”
