A biopic by Michael Jackson entitled Michael Was in the works and knocked on his nephew Jaafar Jackson to play the iconic pop icon.
However, reports now suggest that the film’s distributors, Lionsgate and Universal Pictures are planning to push the release date, which is currently October 3rd.
Told sources Deadline The reason behind this is the possible decision to divide the film into two parts.
This is not the first time the film has been exposed to a drastic change. Previously, work on the film’s screenplay was refused for reshoots after the most important photographer was completed in May last year.
In addition to the deceased MJS nephew at the forefront, Colman Domingo will also play the lead role in the biopic as family patriarch Joe Jackson.
“I’m excited to be part of a movie that explores both the complicated soul of the legendary Michael Jackson as well as his influence on music and culture as a global icon,” the actor said earlier.
“Not only is I lucky to have a rich, complex and defective character to produce in Joe Jackson, but I also have a seat in the front row for Jaafar’s incredible transformation,” he continued.
“After seeing him at general test, my mind was blown up. There is something divine about the way Jaafar channels his late uncle. His talent and embodiment of Michael’s essence is simply at another level,” Colman concluded.
