Decorated US swimmer Michael Phelps shouted US swimming once again, this time goes into detail about his belief that the program is falling.
Phelps published a long, five-page statement on Instagram that doubled its call for action in the organization.
“I’ve seen too many teammates fight to compete in a sport they love without the support they need,” Phelps wrote. “I’ve also seen the sport fight to return its membership numbers to pre-pandemic levels, and I’ve finished pretending this system works just because it produces medals.

“Svømning for mig handlede altid om mere end bare medaljer – det skal være et miljø, der bygger mestre ind og ud af poolen. Som far til fire unge drenge gør det ondt at sige, at jeg ikke er sikker på, om jeg ville have, at mine sønner skulle være en del af denne sport på et konkurrencedygtigt niveau. Ja, svømning ændrede mit liv, men det også har forårsaget en masse hjertepine, og det er den nuværende tilstand, gør mig både trist og angry. “
Phelps began his post by clarifying that he did not call the actual swimmers in the organization with his first criticism, but rather leadership outside the pool.

He pointed out the team’s decline in performance and said Team USA won only 44% of the medals at the 2024 Olympic Games, the lowest brand for the United States since 1988.
And while Phelps referred to money as a factor in the decline of the United States, he accused the organization of “poor operational controls and weak leadership.”
Phelps did not point the finger without offering himself and certain recommendations as solutions. At first he promised he would be a resource for US swimming.

“My door is open and there is work to be done,” he wrote.
He also recommended that the United States swimming held an independent review of the entire organization. He believes that an athlete-first mentality must be adopted to support swimmers competing at the highest level. At the same time, it is important in his eyes to offer support to the young swimmers to reach this level.
Phelps’ first post was about former Team USA swimmer Ryan Lochte, a teammate of Hans under his Olympic gold medal. Lochte had sent a picture where a funeral was held for the US swimming, in which Phelps asked if the World Cup in 2025 would be a “wake-up call” for the organization.

Team USA spoke nine gold medals at the World Cup, which led all countries involved in the pool. They had 29 total medals, which were also first among the participating nations.
Phelps is one of the best Olympiers, so much less swimmers, all the time. He collected 23 gold medals over his famous career, which remains an Olympic record.
