After Michigan’s huge rebellion over Ohio State in rivalry week, they tried to plant a school flag in the midfield of Ohio Stadium, and it did not sit well with Buckeyes.
Members of both teams came into an all-out brawl that came to the point where police on the field used Pepper Spray to break the UO matches.
This decision led to some controversy, but according to the athletic, reviews from two Ohio Agency say that law enforcement was justified in its actions.

“More people were on earth, police officers were pushed and pushed by large, highly educated and skilled division one football athletes in full football campaigns,” wrote Ohio State University Police Detective Douglas Cunningham in his department’s report. “The players had the benefit of both size, strength, conditioning, protective equipment, and the persuaded police presence trying to suppress the growing threat.”
Cunningham said he used pepper spray to “help to comply with the rising audience’s aggression/resistance” as the initial attempts to “suppress the aggressive, fighting and growing quantity and to regain order” did not work.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day defended his players after the melee and said, “These guys were looking to put a flag in our field and we won’t let it happen.”
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, who waved goodbye to Buckey’s fans in the crowd after Wolverines’ last stop, took High Road after their 13-10 win.
“It was feelings on both sides. It can’t happen … We had to deal with it better,” Moore said.
Michigan, who runs back Kalel Mullins, who ran over 100 meters in the competition, said the moment was “bad for the sport” and “classless” for Buckeyes to take it to that level.
Each school was fined $ 100,000 for the fight. No one was suspended.

It was the fourth year in a row that Michigan defeated Ohio State after Buckeyes won 15 out of 16 meetings. But Buckeyes got the last laughter that went on a race to become the national masters.
