- Microsoft 365 Local is a completely on-prem solution for data sovereignty requirements
- It’s built on Azure Local and Microsoft’s private sovereign cloud
- Redmond wants to give “digital stability” to all regions
Microsoft has launched a new version of Microsoft 365, running completely on site, designed for low latency and high security needs running on Azure Local.
The company detailed how the update enabled workloads to be implemented within data centers or sovereign cloud environments – a response to the growing desire for more controlled environments globally.
By launching On-Prem versions of the M365, Redmond aims to improve security, compliance and governance with special attention to European customers who need to comply with the data sovereignty rules.
M365 can now run on-prem in sovereign environments
Among the most important components of Redmond’s sovereign cloud is a superb public cloud, a superb private cloud and national partner clouds.
The public version is available across all European data center regions and ensures that data remains in Europe, under European law and is controlled only by European workers. The product is in preview, but should generally be available later in the year.
By taking it a step further, the private Sky Azure Local uses as a foundation for on-premanet and partner-driven environments. It is targeted at organizations that need operational autonomy and air caught systems.
Finally, the national partner clouds such as France’s Bleu and Germany’s Delos Sky are designed to further meet the local sovereignty standard within the EU.
Microsoft 365 Local only runs at Azure Local – supports for Microsoft’s private sovereign cloud. “Microsoft 365 Local gives customers additional choices by assembling Microsoft’s productivity server software for an Azure local environment that can run completely in a customer’s own data center,” the company explained.
Talking about the current “geopolitical volatility” and Microsoft’s desire to provide “digital stability”, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff added: “Microsoft is proud to offer the widest set of sovereignty solutions available in the market today, and we will constantly look for new ways to ensure that our European customers trust. “
