- Microsoft’s Windows 11 23H2 Beta has a new image editing and compression feature in Windows Share
- It is not clear whether this will come to other functional updates than 23h2
- This can make the snip tool outdated as pruning, adjustment and filtration are all possible
Microsoft has been under fire recently because of its Windows 11 24H2 problems – but fortunately we bring some good Windows 11 Update News as it allegedly introduces new features for image sharing and editing features.
Microsoft, stained by Phantomofearth on X, brings image editing and compression to its Windows Share feature, which is highlighted by Windows Report. This allows users to crop and adjust images without using the snip tool while also having access to file compression.
It is important to note that this was found in Windows 11 23H2 beta (Microsoft still updates older versions of Windows 11), so it is not available to all users yet – it is also not clear whether these practical tools will only come to 23H2 or whether it will be available for other feature updates. This is an ideal feature for those who want to share much larger images with regard to file sizes.
It would be even better if it turns out that video compression and general file compressions are possible – it would eliminate the need to find different file compression sites, saving users plenty of time. While it is probably better to wait until Microsoft fully implements this in 23h2 (or other feature updates, if possible), you can access the feature early by participating in the Windows Insider Program to access 23H2S beta.
Windows 11 23H2 is a fresh breath and this beta feature is another reason why
After facing a whole series of problems using Windows 11 24h2, I recently went back to Windows 11 23H2 – Nvidias 572.70 – Games Ready Driver forced my hand in this case as it gave me black screens at startup – and I’m happier than ever.
The strange bugs, slopes and game compatibility problems are no longer a burden and I can finally use my PC as intended. There will be more than likely problems in some capacity with functional updates, but 23h2 is the safest effort at the moment (other than the weird 100% CPU use error).
Although I am not using 23H2 Beta, this Windows Share update one I have wanted Microsoft to implement for a long time – more specifically for videos and other files instead of relying on other software or online free sites to do the job. Sure that compress much larger files is a much bigger question, but this is a great starting point.
I don’t know when I update my system again (it’s if updates are not forced on me), just as I don’t want to upgrade my GPU drivers until I know my system is safe against BSODs.
If Microsoft can get 24 hours back in good shape and the new file compression feature can be used on other file types, I will finally be able to let go of my grip – let’s hope it will happen before rather than later.
