- Microsoft and Partners have a new Windows Resilience strategy for companies
- WRI changes antivirus tools out of core for better reliability and improvement
- Crowdstrike and Bitdefender praises Microsoft’s new approach to security cooperation
Microsoft wants to avoid a repetition of setbacks that followed the 2024 crowdstrike-related power outage, and it launches a new framework to do so.
With its new Windows Resilience Initiative (WRI), Tech Giant looks to harden the Windows platform against potential disturbance.
WRI is advertised at Ignite and is Microsoft’s strategy for building resilience at the core of how Windows works – across updates, third -party integrations and final point security.
Resilience is not optional
In the heart of WRI is three focus areas: ecosystem collaboration, practical guidance and product innovation.
Microsoft gathered security providers and government officials at Windows Endpoint Security Ecosystem Summit in 2024 to begin this work. Since then, the company has worked closely with its Microsoft Virus Initiative (MVI) partners to improve how Windows handles security software and operating system updates.
Microsoft said the goal is to reduce disturbance while maintaining high safety standards. “Resilience is not optional – it’s a strategic imperative,” said David Weston, head of Enterprise and OS Security at Microsoft, in a new blog post.
Security providers not only look from the sidelines. Florin Virllan, SVP for Product and Technology at Bitdefender Customer Solutions Group, said: “Bitdefender is pleased to collaborate with Microsoft to redefine how security is delivered to Windows users. Through Windows Resilience Initiative and Development of Windows Endpoint Security Platform, our teams have worked together to modernize security Resilient, forward -looking basis that improves protection against EVN.
Alex Ionescu, Chief Technology Innovation Officer at Crowdstrike, added, “We spoke on Weses last year to emphasize the importance of our industry gathering, and since then has seen significant customer interest in progress towards greater platform resistance. Through this collaboration we have driven a significant improvement in the planned capacities for Windows Endpoint Safety for a more integrated high performance security solution. ”
Part of the update is structural: Microsoft changes antivirus and end point protection tools out of the Windows core and in user mode. This change should make it easier to recover from questions and limit their scope.
Microsoft aims to release these capabilities to partners in a private preview soon.
In addition to security providers, Microsoft also updates Windows 11 to include new recovery tools and reliability features.
A simplified crash screen, faster restart processes and a new tool called Quick Machine Recovery starts rolling out with Windows 11 24h2.
Bandwidth -saving tools such as connected to cache and safe, flexible printing through universal print are also refined to keep companies in the process of fewer interruptions.
Windows 365 Reserve, a new offer, also allows users to quickly switch to a SKY -PC when their main unit is out of operation.
