- There is a new preview built out for Windows 11
- It builds Smart AI -Agent’s forces in Settings
- This is for Copilot+ PCs only and there is not much here for those with a traditional (nonAi) Windows 11 PC
Microsoft increases the forces of its AI Agent in Windows 11 (to Copilot+ PCS) with the latest preview -Build to us.
You remember that the first Windows Agent is AI, which was introduced to the Settings app a few months ago, designed to help you easily find and change the options you want in Windows 11 and it has been worked on in the preview Build 26120,6780 in the Beta Channel.
There are two major changes here, the first of which is an increase in the number of proposals that appear when you search for a setting using the AI agent.
Not only does this mean that AI surfaces the setting it thinks you will – and possible recommendations for what to choose with this option – it also gives additional results for related settings you may need (see the example below).
If your inquiry to AI cannot be actioned – say, say you want to increase the screen brightness, but still it is already at the maximum level – you will be informed of this (and also given the necessary shooter if you want to finish the setting). Microsoft also shows us an example of screen for this, because when the volume is maximized.
The other big change here is that the AI surfaces recently used settings on the home panel in the setting app so you can access these quickly.
Remember that the agent in settings is a copilot+ PC feature, so traditional (nonAI) Windows 11 computers do not get this as they do not have the necessary NPU to speed up the performance of functionality (which happens on an afation).
Another change for Copilot+ PCS is that Windows 11 will now highlight key skills as you start, click to do, such as emails or tables on which you can use AI-related actions.
Alongside these increases on the AI front in this preview release, the Microsoft also produces the dialog box for the Run Command, which fits in Dark Mode -it did not until now, when it remained a white color, but now has a dark background it should have.
Analysis: Really useful AI
These are welcome changes to make the AI agent more useful in settings. After recently used settings appeared on the Home screen is great for changing-or-turning-or a decision that you have recently taken with the different options in Windows 11.
For me, this is a highlight of Windows 11 on Copilot+ PCS, as is the AI SuperCharged Search Functionality elsewhere in us. It seems to be a great deal of the important progress of AI in Windows 11 so far based on making the search more intelligent.
Of course, we can expect more AI features in Windows 11, and Microsoft recently started a new Windows AI Labs program to help with the development of such functionality. Presumably we get more AI agents outside the app Settings eventually, though it is unclear where Microsoft may seem to expand this concept. The starting menu may be a likely next goal.
Unfortunately, there is not much in this new preview -Build for those who do not have a copilot+ PC, although the extra bits of Dark Mode functionality do not hurt. This is part of a running drive to bring more interface elements in dark state, although Microsoft has hung after this work. It’s not clear why it takes so long to make sure Dark Mode covers the entire Windows 11 interface.
