- Microsoft Defender for the Endpoint Flagely Flags Outdated BIOS on Dell units due to logic error
- Microsoft confirmed the question and issued a service alarm; Fix is ready but unjoned
- Community waiting for details of affected regions and customer influence
If Microsoft Defender for Endpoint continues to say that your computer’s BIOS company is outdated and continues to get you to update it – it’s not you or the device – it’s a mistake.
The Endpoint protection tool has an error that only manifests itself on Dell computers and is caused by a logical error.
“Microsoft has identified that a code error in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Logics, which derives vulnerabilities for Dell units, causes influence,” the company said. “Your organization is influenced by this event and some users who receive Microsoft Defender for the Endpoint Alerts for the BIOS version of their Dell devices are affected.”
What is the defender for the end point?
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is a corporate quality security platform – an extended detection and response (XDR) tool – designed to protect end points across organizations.
It combines the next generation’s antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), threat and vulnerability control and attack surface reduction into a unified solution.
XDR is primarily built for businesses, and especially for those with complex IT environments. It is integrated with Microsoft 365 and Azure Services and uses behavioral sensors, cloud -based analysis and threat information to detect sophisticated attacks and reduce response time.
It supports Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android and iOS devices, making it suitable for hybrid and remote workforce. From the recent estimates, Microsoft Defender protects the endpoint hundreds of millions of units globally with widespread adoption across government, healthcare, finance and other critical sectors.
Patchet is already firm, but not yet deployed where users are now waiting for Microsoft to share more details about the regions where this bug manifested and the number of customers affected by it.
