Keeping up with all the latest updates from your colleagues and employees could soon be a little more difficult to avoid thanks to a new addition that apparently comes to Microsoft teams.
A report from The Verge Has claimed that a full social media news feed-ersque feature will soon come to the video conferencing platform, letting users send updates, news and more, with the ability to suffer and share.
“More sources” at Microsoft has apparently confirmed the plan, says the report, with the feature, called Storyline, which is currently undergoing testing in the company.
Microsoft Teams Storyline
Storyline is not a new idea after being quietly announced at Microsoft Ignite in November 2024, with Ekko, which actually calls back to the summer of 2022 as an identical named part of Viva Engage, but the report now offers a little more clarity on how it actually will. work.
Users will now see the opportunity to add a “new story post” together with creating a new message or channel post.
Posts will be shared across the New Storyline tab, access via a user profile, with users who are able to follow and subscribe to updates from their employees, along with the opportunity to write comments or respond using emojier.
Microsoft says the new feature can be used to celebrate or recognize certain work events or anniversaries as well as major updates from both employers and employees.
“Employee communication is often spread in several places, leading to frustration, delays and overloading,” Microsoft had said about the feature on Ignite 2024.
“Storyline in teams allows leaders to share communication with a whole company and simplify the ways you and your colleagues share and connect. The story integration provides a new way of discovering content, contributing your ideas and perspectives and expressing yourself while you become In your stream of work in teams.
Storyline is expected to be launched for a public preview in Q1 2025, but there is no specific release date yet.
