“This is such a colossal failure,” Francesa said at his podcast. “This is one of the great tremendous gut breakdowns that we have seen from a team of talent for a very long time.”

Mets’ 2025 salary list, increased by a record setting-free agent agreement with Juan Soto, hit $ 340 million. They justified it early and own MLB’s best record in mid -June.

But the collapse Francesa never described the stopping. Mets were striped and swung from heights to lowness without consistency.

“There are bad teams. It’s not them – they’re not a bad team,” Francesa said. “They are a bowelless bunch of underachievers. That’s what they are at the core and they have to be ashamed.

“I never thought they would be bowelless. I never thought they wouldn’t figure it out to this extent. I never thought their pitching would dissolve as badly as it did. They were also a top-heavy set-up all year. They became a bad defensive team. They became a bad situation-long team. And they became a bunch of bowel-free pimple.”

Strong words from “Sports Pope,” but many fans shared the mood on Monday when Mets turned their focus until 2026.

General Manager David Stearns confirmed manager Carlos Mendoza will return next season. However, Star Slugger Pete Alonso announced after the loss to Miami that he will opt out and test free agency again.

Since June 12, METS 38-55-one inevitable slip went into consideration of their early dominance. On September 1, they still led Reds with six matches to the final Wild-Card site.
