EXCLUSIVE: As President Donald Trump decides whether to pursue federal cannabis reform, he may also have the power to determine the future of Mike Tyson’s boxing career.

Tyson has been one of the most vocal advocates of re -planning marijuana from a schedule in drug to scheme III – which is considered a much less dangerous category of fabric. Trump told journalists on Monday that it is a decision he will decide in the next few weeks.

“It depends on whether cannabis ever becomes legal or not and re -planned,” Tyson said when asked if it is possible he would accept another fight.

Tyson said he accepted his last match against YouTuber Jake Paul while under the influence of Marijuana, and would not have accepted the fight if he was sober.

“I don’t really believe it. No, I wouldn’t have done that,” Tyson said when asked about the match. “Because without cannabis, I get too involved in my feelings. With cannabis, I’m very objective.”

He added that it “wouldn’t take much” [cannabis] For him to accept another fight before he ultimately suggests that it depends on the planning of the plant.

Tyson led a coalition of current and former athletes, including Kevin Durant, Dez Bryant and Antonio Brown, who signed a letter to the White House at the end of June, lobbying for federal cannabis reform. The letter required re -planning of cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III, Klemency for “non -violent” marijuana -law violations and end “discriminatory banking practice” related to financial rules for the cannabis industry.

Tyson told Pakinomist Digital in the interview 30 June that Renplant was the “most important” goal in his letter. He added that he was “failed” of how former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden handled Federal Marijuana Reform, but is hopeful that Trump will take a new approach.

“It was a shutdown,” Tyson said of Obama and the bite’s handling. “We have another president now, so we’re talking to him. So it seems to be a very different talk with President Trump than it did with the other guys.”

Tyson has a long -standing friendship with Trump dating back to the 1980s, in the previous years of Tyson’s boxing career and Trump’s rise as a celebrity New York City real estate developer.

Now Tyson believes that Trump himself would make good decisions for the country under the influence of marijuana.

“I really think so, yes,” Tyson said.

Still, Tyson said he would never invite Trump to use marijuana with him.

“By no means. No, he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t believe in anything that can improve your brain’s motor skills. And I respect that,” Tyson said.

In addition to rebuilding, clemency for non -violent users is also a very personal priority for Tyson. Tyson said he has seen people be imprisoned for non -violent marijuana -law offenses since he was a child.

“I’m friends with these people. These people come from my community,” Tyson said.

Tyson remembered the first person he has ever met, who was imprisoned for such a violation.

“I know he did a lot of time. I know he was going in there when I was a little kid. When he came out, I boked,” Tyson said. “He was a friend of people in the neighborhood. Everyone in the neighborhood knew who he was. He wasn’t really a friend whom I hung with or anything, but the whole neighborhood knew who he was … I never smoked with him.”

A recent study By researchers at UC, San Francisco determined that eating edible cannabis, such as rubber, has the same cardiovascular risk as smoking marijuana for long -term users. The risk comes from reduced blood vessel function according to the study published in Jama Cardiology May 28.
