‘Miracle on ice’ hold inches closer to new honor

Congress will honor “Miracle on Ice” Team USA Hockey Squad, who disturbed the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics on its way to an unlikely gold medal.

The House of Representatives adopted “Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act”, which awards members of the famous hockey team with congress gold medals. The bill goes to President Donald Trump’s desk to sign.

“The Miracle on Ice ‘team represents everything our country is about: grit, determination, endurance and hope,” Rep said. Tom exudes, R-minn., Pakinomist Digital. “Their historic victory 45 years ago was more than a dramatic rebellion in the sports world – it became a crucial moment of unity in our country’s history and inspired us all to believe in miracles again.

“I look forward to seeing this bill signed in the law of President Trump and am grateful to my colleague, representative (Peter) Stauber, to ensure that this team receives the recognition of the Congress they deserve.”

Rep. Elise Stefany, RN.Y., also released a statement about the passage of the law.

“It is an incredible honor to represent Lake Placid, where the American Olympic Men’s Hockey Team in 1980 drew one of the greatest sports amplifiers in world history,” said Stefany. “The American defeat of the Soviet Union during the Cold War was a triumph of endurance, unity and spirit, not only for the athletes on the ice, but for all Americans.

“When we are reminded of (45.) Anniversary of this legendary victory, I am proud to lead this Topartsian effort to ensure that their extraordinary performance is properly recognized. This legislation will ensure that future generations will never forget the legacy of the ‘miracle on IS.'”

On February 22, 1980, Americans drew one of the biggest disturbances in history as the ragtag group mostly college hockey players defeated the Soviet 4-3.

Broadcaster Al Michaels put the exclamation point on the game with one of the most famous calls in sports history.

“Do you believe in miracles? Yes!”

The United States then defeated Finland to win the gold medal. This is the last time the United States has won gold in ice hockey.
