The charred remains of Mustafa Amir, a young man who disappeared from Karachi’s defense area on January 6, were discovered near Hub Chowki, the authorities reported Friday. Mustafa’s body was found in the trunk of his own car, which had also been set on fire.
You CIA, Muqadda’s Haider, together with officials from Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), treated the media and confirmed significant progress in the investigation.
“Mustafa Amir, 23 years old, was abducted on January 6, after which his mother received a ransom call,” said you Haider, adding that the case was then transferred to the CIA. He credited CPLC for their significant cooperation in the case.
Haider revealed that Mustafa’s friend Armaghan was arrested on February 8 after a shootout where two police officers, including DSP, were injured. During the arrest, investigators found Mustafa’s telephone and blood stains on a blanket at Home at Armaghan’s home.
“Sensitive agencies have also helped with the investigation,” Haider added.
According to the investigation, Armaghan and another suspect, Shiraz, who were close friends since childhood, allegedly killed Mustafa after a domestic rigorous. They then disposed of the body by placing it in Mustafa’s car, setting it on fire and giving it up near Hub Chowki.
Authorities continue to investigate whether anyone else was involved in the crime.
DNA tests are performed to confirm the remains with the first reports indicating that the found body was actually Mustafa’s.
You Haider clarified that there was no confirmed link to international drug cartels, despite rumors that suggested Mustafa’s commitment to illegal activities. “The allegation of Mustafa’s connection to a drug cartel does not remain -verified,” Haider said.
Police officials had initially confirmed that Mustafa had disappeared from his residence in defense, and after his father, Amir Shuja, contacted Mustafa’s friend Armaghan on January 10, grew suspicion.
On the same day, a ransom call was received from an international number, causing the family to provide evidence to the police. However, there was no immediate action from the authorities.
In the wake of the discovery, Mustafa’s father had also appealed to Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori of help finding his son. After the intervention, police traced Mustafa’s charred car and body in Hub Chowki.
The investigation continues when authorities seek to identify all those involved in this tragic incident.
