Mississippi State draws wildly disturbed victory

Mississippi State Bulldogs withdrew a remarkable rebellion over Arizona State Sun Devils No. 12 in the closing moments of their matchup on Saturday night.

Mississippi State Quarterback Blake Shapen led the Bulldogs down the field with about 40 seconds left in the game. He found that the Bren Thompson strolled down the field. Thompson got the inside of a Sun Devil’s defensive back, caught the passport and went towards the final zone.

Thompson beat the defender to the finish line and Mississippi State went up 24-20. They won with the same score.

Bulldogs fans in Starkville, Mississippi, stormed the pitch to celebrate the victory.

“Which atmosphere, what an evening. It’s Davis Wade Stadium at its finest,” said Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby. “The funniest thing about it for our guys, everything we’ve been through in the program, to see our university show up as we showed up is special.”

This is the first time Mississippi State defeated a top 15 non -conference opponent since 1991.

“We emphasized going out and playing the next spectacle,” Shapen said. “These are moments that I live for. This shows a lot about our team. The emotions are very high right now and I am very blessed to be in this position.”

Shapen was 19-of-33 with 279 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Thompson had six catches in 133 yards and two scores. Anthony Evans III had nine catches in 108 yards and a touchdown.

Arizona state principal coach Kenny Dillingham complained about the team’s lack of stopped Bulldogs’ explosiveness.

“The great plays were the story of the game,” Dillingham said. “It’s a good football team and they’re explosive. They played an explosive game. We had to remove their explosives in the second half and we did it until the end there.”

Arizona State, who runs back Raleek Brown and Kanye Udoh, had good games on earth. Brown rushed into 110 yards on 18 carriers. Udoh had 105 yards of 23 carrier with a score.
