MLB reliever Jason Adam earned the first all-star-Nikk of his career as he put together a dominant first half of the season coming out of the Bullpen for San Diego Padres.
Adam was in church with his wife when he received the call from Padre’s manager Mike Shildt about the All-Star Committee. But immediately, said Adam, his wife thought he would be traded.

“I feel my phone vibrates and I’m like, ‘oh, it’s shildy,’ and I show my wife and she goes right away, ‘oh, my gosh, no way we’re shopping,’ ‘he told People Magazine Wednesday.
He said he stepped out to take the call and learned the good news. He returned to the service and told his wife, Kelsey, whom he said burst into tears.
“It caused a small scene in the church,” he said. “But she cried, then excited.”
Adam said he called his parents next to telling them and crediting them to help him get to the place where he is currently in his career.

Trade Fear was very justified. San Diego is Adam’s fifth team in eight MLB seasons. He started with Kansas City Royals before moving to Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays and eventually Padres.
San Diego acquired him in 2024 and really began to make an impact back then.
This season, Adam has a 1.58 era in 45 games with 52 strikes. He had a career high 81 strike between Rays and Padres last season, which performed in 74 games.
