Houston Astro’s starting pot Spencer Arrithetti sustained an unfortunate injury on Monday before the team’s match against Seattle Mariners in T-Mobile Park.
ArriThetti, 25, was hit by a line drive while playing catching in the left field during batting practices and suffering a broken right thumb, Astros said in a statement.
The injury to ArriTetti’s thumb was on his throwing hand. The team has not yet delivered a timeline for his return.

Arrithetti started two starts for Astros this season and went 1-1 with a 5.59 era across 9.2 laps of work. Last season, Arrithetti showed up in 29 games and had 28 starts. He went 7-13 and had a 4.53 era in 145 laps and knocked out 171 men.
Arrighetti’s absence is one that Astros can poorly overcome as their rotation was already inhibited by injuries.
The team has four starters on the wounded list, with some closer to returning than others. Lance McCullers Jr. have been bound in triple-A and could soon return.

However, he is the only wounded starter jug close to returning. JP France is expected to return to the All-Star break at the earliest after he underwent an operation to repair a torn right shoulder last July.
Luis Garcia had a setback in her recovery from Tommy John surgery during spring training and was transferred to the 60-day IL Monday with elbow inflammation. Cristian Javier is still recovering from Tommy John Surgery and may want to return in the second half of the season.
