Throwing the ceremonial first pitch of an MLB game is a special moment.

Many of the people who have been given the opportunity have continued to appreciate the moment, but the TV station Siera Santos’ time at Pitchinghaugen quickly seemed to go from a dream to a nightmare.

Santos, hosting the MLB network’s “intentional speech”, was asked to throw the ceremonial first pitch in front of the Arizona Diamondbacks game against Los Angeles Dodgers this last Friday.

Santos recognized the pressure she experienced led up to her moment in the limelight.

She told Arizona Republic that her colleagues would probably roast her “the rest of eternity” if she would effectively drop the ball. It seems that Santos’ concerns turned out to be valid as her pitch sailed to the left of the home plate.

During her routine performance on the MLB Network program on Monday, Santos took a moment to revise the failed pitch.

“Okay guys, let’s address the elephant in space and address the most embarrassing day of my life,” Santos told Kevin Millar and Ryan Dempster.

“I am honestly surprised that my badge was still working when I went into the door today. I definitely got this first pitch. It was not a first pitch; it was an abomination! I was seriously considering changing my name and moving to another country,” Santos said.

Santos also made it clear that she was trying to be prepared at the moment. “People are like ‘Why didn’t you practice?’ I practiced!

While Santos admittedly felt the sting in the days since the brutal pitch, she could soon get a shot against redemption. A recent post to the MLB network’s Instagram account, citing sources, claimed that a first redemption first pitch is in the works. “
