A Gofundme has begun in the effort to help pay for medical expenses for the 20-year-old man who fell from the stands in a Pittsburgh Pirates game this week.

Kavan Markwood, a former college soccer player, was identified as the man who fell more than 20 meters on the right-felt warning track.

Markwood tilted over the wall of the wall and fell down the field in a game between Pirates and Chicago Cubs.

Games stopped immediately when medical staff sprint to Outfield to find a shirtless Markwood moving on the warning track with blood visible on his face. Both teams’ teachers joined EMS to get him on a wagon and off the field.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said later Wednesday that the tab was in critical condition.

A woman identified as Jennifer Phillips is listed as organizer of fundraiser.

“I’m writing this today with a heavy heart, but also with hope,” Phillips wrote. “Our society has made it so easy to judge a person or a situation of social media that is always just an opinion. Always remember that this person can be very special to many other people. Can you imagine what their loved ones are going through and felled? [sic] I know this young man very well and I know he is very strong, but he also fights for his young life. Be predominantly in this tragic time. “

Phillips said the donations will “help with all medical bills and financial difficulties this family is experiencing right now.”

Pirates star Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double to set the team up 4-3 at the bottom of the inning as players from his team feverishly tried to warn Umpires and assurance that the tab was on the warning track.

The game was a break for approx. 10 minutes when medical staff arrived. The fan was placed on a back plate, filled on a medical carriage and taken out of the stadium.

ONE Graphic video Sent on social media showed that the fan tumbled over the railing and fell about 20 meters to the ground. The TV broadcast showed the McCutchen, who stood on the second base with his hand over his head and in shock. Cubs players took a knee while the tab was adhered to.

Markwood played for two Division II football programs, Walsh University and Wheeling University. He played at Wheeling in 2023 and performed in four games, according to the team’s side.

“Had really what happened tonight,” McCutchen wrote on social media. “Can’t help think about the guy his family and friends. I pray tonight for him. Let’s think of his dear and hug our families a little tighter tonight. I hope he pulls through. May God bless you all. Good night.”
