Baseball Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg shared an update on her match with prostate cancer on Wednesday.
Sandberg, 65, was originally diagnosed in January 2024. He announced several months later in August that he was cancer -free.
However, the Chicago Cubs legend announced in December that the cancer had not only returned but was spread to other organs.

“I would share an update about my health. It has been a challenging couple of months when I have undergone treatment regularly,” Sandberg wrote in his latest post. “While I continue to fight, I look forward to getting the most out of every day with my loving family and friends.”
When the cancer returned in December, Sandberg said he was “back for a more intense treatment.”

Sandberg threw the first pitch of the Cubs Home opener in April. NL MVP from 1984 said he was “excited” in the second half of the season.
“I haven’t been to Wrigley Field as much as I hoped in the first half, but I see every game and am excited about the second half and to see Wrigley Rocke as 1984!” Sandberg wrote at the time. “Thank you all for the messages about support. Go kids!”

Cubs have given Sandberg a lot to cheer over as they are 57-39 and have a 1.0 game lead over Milwaukee Brewers. Sandberg played everyone except 13 games in his 16-year-old career with Cubs.
Sandberg did All-Star Game 10 consecutive years in its famous Cubs Medicine period. He is a nine-time gold glove winner and seven-time silver swallows.
