The New York Mets star closer Edwin Diaz sustained a major damage to the World Baseball Classic in 2023, but that does not prevent him from playing in 2026’s edition of International Tournament.
Diaz, 31, hurt himself while celebrating Team Puerto Rico’s victory over the Dominican Republic. He tore his patellar late in his right knee and missed the whole season.

“I didn’t get hurt pitching,” Díaz said via the New York Post last week. “It’s something that can happen in my house or anywhere. If I threw, I might be a little scared (to return).”
