Former president Barack Obama were among the many who paid tribute to the Hall of Famer and Chicago Cub’s great Ryne Sandberg, who died this week after a long battle of cancer.
The former president issued a tribute to Sandberg in a post of x early Tuesday morning.

“Hall of Famer and Cub’s Stalwart Ryne Sandberg was not just a big baseball player – he was a class action that never cheated the game,” the post read. “Everyone in Chicago – including White Sox Fans – will miss him deeply. ”

Obama, a well -known White Sox -Fan, invited Cubs To visit the White House in the last days of his second presidency after winning the World Series in 2016.
“I only got four days left,” he said during the ceremony via New York Times. “I gave a lot of promises in 2008. We have managed to fulfill a large number of them. But even I wasn’t crazy enough to suggest that during these eight years we would watch the kids win the World Series.”

Hall of Famer, Loved Cubs -Legenden Ryne Sandberg Death of 65 After Cancer with Cancer
Major League Baseball Announced Sandberg’s passing on Monday. He was 65.
“Ryne Sandberg was a legend about the Chicago Cubs franchise and a beloved figure throughout Major League baseball. Malfred in a statement.
“Ryne remained active in the game he loved as ambassador for Cubs, a manager for Phillies and in smaller leagues, and a frequent participant in the Hall of Fame. His many friends across the game were in his corner as he bravely fought for cancer in recent years. We will continue to support the important work of standing up to cancer in Rynes memory.”

Sandberg was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in January 2024. In August of that year, he announced he was cancer -free after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
In December, he revealed that the cancer had returned and spread to other organs.
