Baltimore Orioles Rookie Pitcher Brandon Young lost his perfect game of brutal way during the team’s 7-0 win over Houston Astros Friday.

Young, 26, were four outs away from etching themselves into the history books when Astro’s second Baseman Ramon Urias was up.

Young threw a shift on the outside of the plate in a 2-2 count. Urias reached out and knocked a basic ball gently in between Kanddehaugen and third base.

Young, who had to hurry because of Urias’ speed, picked up the ball with his mere hand, turned and fired a wild throw to the first base so Urias could reach. Urias got a hit and Young was indicted for a mistake to let Urias move on to the second base on his wild throw.

“I thought I could make the piece,” said Young Postgame. “I came there in time. I think I had a little more time to take a step and make a better throw. Obviously it was hurrying it, pulled it …

Young settled down and beat Astros’ Center Fielder Taylor Trammell to end the inning. The 26-year-old threw eight laps while just allowed one hit to Urias, and he tied his career mound with six strikes.

“He threw all his seats for strikes, in the back of counting, ahead of counting.

Young said he knew the perfect game was on the field as the game went on.

“It’s really hard not to think about it,” Young said. “It’s just just trying to reassure yourself and think of just one pitch at a time. A kind of breathing, reassure me a little, but I could tell what happened.”
