San Diego Padres star third Baseman Manny Machado recorded his 2,000. Career hit in the team’s 6-3 loss to Arizona Diamondbacks Monday at Petco Park.
Machado, 33, had three hits in the loss. His first and the 1,999. of Machado’s career came in the first place when he laced a line drive to the left field at Diamondbacks’ Startker Zac Gallen.

Machado became the fifth active player with 2,000 hits and the 12th player in the MLB story to have 350 home runs and 2,000 hits in his age-32 season.
The star’s infielder tilted the hat to the standing audience while standing on the first base.
Machados 2.001. Hit of his career came in the eighth lap as he hammered a shooting into the left field bleacher for a solo home ride, his 15th home drive of the season, to cut Diamondbacks’ lead down to 6-3.
“It’s special and an honor to be part of this list,” Machado said of being in the 2,000 hit club. “Definitely would have wished for the victory, but to go away from it, it’s pretty cool.”

The two-time silver swallow was happy to achieve the bang in front of Padre’s fans.
“To do it in front of the home crowd is definitely much better, and hopefully there is more,” Machado said.
Machado debuted with Baltimore in 2012 and got 977 hits with Baltimore Orioles before being traded for Los Angeles Dodgers on July 18, 2018. He had 73 hits with Dodgers before signing as a free agent with Padres on February 21, 2019.

He has 950 hits with Padres that ranks the fifth on the franchise list. Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn had 3,141 in his 20-season career.
Machado was voted the starting third Baseman for the National League All-Star team this year when he in the middle of another strong season. Machado has a .293 batting average to go with 15 home runs and 53 RBI while continuing to shine defensively on the third base.
