Texas Rangers Plays Staff Special Assistant Scott Littlefield died Friday at. 59 years, the team announced on Saturday.
Littlefield was found dead in his Houston hotel room after an apparent heart attack, USA reported Today. The long -time MLB scout allegedly underwent heart surgery two years ago.
“Scott was one of the most respected scouts in the Major League Baseball, who had an incredible impact on this organization,” Ranger’s President Chris Young told business. “His voice was influential in all aspects of our baseball operation from professional, amateur and international scout for the Major League Player Evaluation. He was an invaluable resource and adviser.”

“More important was that he was one of the most real and caring individuals in the game.”
Rangers honored Littlefield as the Red Jacket Scout of the year in 2019. Littlefield took up the organization in November 2009 and was heavily involved in the team’s scouting department.
Before working with Rangers, Littlefield spent time with Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padre’s organizations. Littlefield won this year’s scout with Padres in 2007.

Littlefield is the brother of former Pirates General Manager, Dave Littlefield, and medical coordinator for New York Yankees, Mark Littlefield.
