New York Yankees has a reinforcement on the way in front of their push after the season.

The team acquired the third Baseman Ryan McMahon from Colorado Rockies in exchange for smaller League Pitchers Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz, the teams announced Friday.

McMahon, 30, will fill a meager hole that Yankees has had all season on the third base. Yankees has got a .645 ops from their third Basemen this season, the eighth worst in the position of the big leagues.

McMahon has just a .217 batting average with 16 home runs this year, but his .717 OPS is an upgrade to what Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas have delivered.

While McMahon’s total number on the record is not strong, he has hit better too late. Since May 1, McMahon has an average of .246 with 14 home runs.

No matter how McMahon hits, he is a big defensive third Baseman who will at least upgrade Yankees’ Infield defense.

McMahon had spent his entire nine-season career with Rockies.

“Although it is never easy to share ways with a player and person of Ryan’s caliber, our focus on this deadline is based on a competitive future,” said Rockie’s senior vice president and general manager Bill Schmidt in a statement.

“We can’t thank Ryan enough for everything he has given to this organization and society since we worked out in 2013. His influence on and off the field has been huge and we wish Ryan, Natalie and Austyn nothing but the best to move forward.”

Herring, 22, has a 7-3 record with a 1.71 era in 16 starts between single-a-tampa and High-A Hudson Valley. Herring was picked in the sixth round of the 2024 MLB draft.

Grosz, 22, has a 4-8 record with a 4.14 ERA in 16 appearances (15 starters) with High-A Hudson Valley. He was elected in the 11th round of the 2023 MLB draft.

Yankees (56-46) hopes McMahon can give them a boost down the stretch as they fight for a place after the season.

Rockies (26-76) could look to shop away more players before the trading deadline on July 31 when they build against the future.
